Wicker, Cane and Willow

Un libro non approfondito ma completo, che da qualche informazione e suggestione per riconoscere e valutare gli stili dei mobili con tecnica ad intreccio (in vimini, rattan e salice), più che altro della tradizione americana. Le foto sono abbastanza belle e ci sono utili suggerimenti per l’acquisto, in particolare come valutare se i difetti possono essere riparati e come. I “progetti” di fine libro sono inutili e perfino un po’ fuori tema, ma viene spiegata la tecnica per verniciare (o sverniciare). Le spiegazioni su come fare una impagliatura tipo “paglia di Vienna” sono pressoché inutili vista la scarsità di foto al riguardo.

A book that is not in-depth but complete, which gives some information and suggestions to recognize and evaluate the styles of furniture with intertwining technique (in wicker, rattan and willow), mostly of the American tradition. The photos are pretty cool and there are helpful buying tips, especially how to assess whether defects can be repaired and how. The “projects” at the end of the book are useless and even a little off topic, but the technique for painting (or stripping) is explained. The explanations on how to make a “Vienna straw” type stuffing are almost useless given the scarcity of photos in this regard.
