Piretta antico rivestito / Ancient stuffed piretta
Avevo già rivestito un “piretta” ossia una sorta di grande bottiglione o damigiana (qui), ma questo è antico, realizzato in vetro soffiato e non stampato,senza imboccatura, magnificamente storto e con la superficie piena di bolle d’aria e “iozze”. La sfida è stata ricoprirlo senza nasconderlo, in modo che lo si possa scoprire…..
Ad esempio il “piretta” ha un fondo rientrante che, tra le altre cose, lo rende più facile da maneggiare. Ma rivestendolo con la classica base rotonda piatta, non si vedrebbe questa particolarità. Quindi ho deciso di fare una base a punta su misura, cominciando con un incrocio di soli 4 bastoni fini ed intreccio a due “vinci”, e poi raddoppiando i bastoni e passando all’intreccio a tre. L’intreccio a tre oltre ad essere più resistente, crea una base d’appoggio piatta, indispensabile visto che il vetro non ce l’ha essendo curvo anche alla base.
Per quanto riguarda il corpo ovviamente l’ho seguito (e sottolineato nelle sue curve) con l’intreccio tradizionale e a metà strada ho inserito due manici. A coronamento ho inserito un bordo a giorno alto una decina di centimetri. In questo modo esteticamente si attenua il trapasso tra pieno e vuoto e si consente di vedere meglio il vetro e l’interno. Un intreccio a giorno più preminente sarebbe stato da questo punto di vista più bello, ma meno resistente e più “estraneo” al carattere “da osteria” dell’oggetto.

For example the “piretta” has a recessed bottom which, among other things, makes it easier to handle. But covering it with the classic round flat base, you would not see this peculiarity. So I decided to do a Spike tailored, starting with a interweaving of only 4 sticks and interweaving two twigs, and then doubling the sticks and passing interweaving three. This intertwining besides being more resistant, creates a flat support base, indispensable seen that the glass does not have it (is curved to the base too).
As regards the body obviously I followed (and underlined in its curves) with the traditional plaiting and halfway I inserted two handles. On top I put a border “a jour” top, ten centimeters. In this way aesthetically it attenuates the transition between full and empty and allows you to see better in the glass and the inside. A interweave “a jour” more prominent would be from this point of view the most beautiful, but less durable and more “foreign” to the character “tavern” of the object.
