La vannerie (Antonio Roncari)
Il libro è in italiano: il titolo francese si riferisce alla tradizione della cesteria valdostana (infatti non è in vendita ed è stato pubblicato dalla Regione Valle D’Aosta). Si tratta di un testo abbastanza buono e nonostante la sua impaginazione un pò rozza e i disegni approssimativi, si fa capire bene. Ci sono diversi suggerimenti pratici che fanno capire che l’autore la sapeva lunga: ad esempio l’utilità del “giro morto” per non far incurvare troppo l’intreccio. L’argomento più approfondito è quello dei cesti a coste e direi che questo è il miglior libro che abbia mai letto per questo tipo di cesteria.
Peccato per le foto, che sono interessanti ma qualitativamente un pò scarse e comunque non si rifersicono a cesti poi spiegati nel libro.

The book is in Italian: the French title refers to the tradition of Valdostan basketry (in fact it is not for sale and was published by the Valle D’Aosta Region). It is a pretty good text and despite its rough layout and rough drawings, it is well understood. There are several practical suggestions that make it clear that the author knew a lot about it: for example, the usefulness of the “dead loop” so as not to cause the weave to curve too much. The most thorough topic is that of ribbed baskets and I would say that this is the best book I’ve ever read for this type of basketry.
Too bad for the photos, which are interesting but qualitatively a little scarce and in any case do not refer to baskets then explained in the book.
